You do not have to buy anything to evaluate the software.  Without a license, the software operates in “demo” mode for game masters, allowing you to test its features and functionality before you buy. You can even have unlicensed players connect so you can test network play.

In “Player” mode, you may not need to buy anything at all. As a player, you can connect to any licensed Master that has license slots available. For more information about licensing, please see our Features Page.

Installation

We distribute kLoOge.Werks in a self-extracting JAR file format that has been zipped for easy download.  This eliminates the need for multiple versions of the archive, since the self-extracting JAR will run on any supported platform.  Simply extract the installer JAR from the downloaded archive, double-click (if your operating system supports it) the JAR file and follow the simple instructions that the installer presents you with.  Updating/Installing kLoOge.Werks couldn’t be any easier!

The only caveat to this is that you must have a compatable version of Java already installed on your machine. kLoOge.Werks requires Java5 (v1.5.0) or later to run.

For Mac OS X users, you probably don’t have to worry about having Java installed, since Apple provides it. However, Java5 requires OS X 10.4.2 (Tiger) or later. If you do not think you have the latest version of Java, you can download it from Apple.

For other operating systems, however, you may need to download Java before you can run kLoOge.Werks. Fortunately, Java is a free download that you can retrieve directly from Sun Microsystems by clickinghere.

Keep Current

The current version of kLoOge.Werks is 3.4.5. The current version contains fixes for problems encountered as well as new enhancements to make the program even easier to use.  If you aren’t running the latest version, then you’re missing out!  Updating to the current version is free!

If you are updating from the same major revison (i.e., 1.x to 1.y or 2.x to 2.y), you generally need only download the “update” version of the software below.  These archives contain only the programs that have changed (and not the extra images that come with the full install).  To update, simple extract the archive into the same directory where kLoOge.Werks is currently installed, overwriting the old versions.

Important Information Concerning 3.1.x

If you are updating from a version prior to 3.1.0, you should know that we do not support using the “update” method described above — there have been too many changes to the folder structure of the program. Instead, download the “Full Install” version and install the program in a different location from where your previous version is located. When you run the installer you will be given the option of copying over your preferences and license file from the old location, so you won’t lose any settings by putting the program in a different location (plus, you can easily go back to the previous version should you need to, since it will be left untouched).

IMPORTANT NOTE

We’re trying something new. Instead of a cross-platform installer (which, for some reason, seems to confuse new users), we have broken the program into three different (platform-specific) downloads. Once your download is finished, simply drag the kLoOge.Werks folder to the place where you’d like it installed. That’s it.
